Soğanlı is one of Cappadocia's least-visited major sites — a remote valley with beautifully frescoed rock-cut churches and genuine village life far from the tourist crowds.
Getting There
Soğanlı Valley is located 50 km south of Göreme in the Yeşilhisar district. Only accessible by car or on a specific Soğanlı day tour. The remoteness keeps crowds away — even in peak season you may have the valley largely to yourself.
What to See
The valley has two arms, each with dozens of cave churches over 1,000 years old. Key sites: Karabaş Church (stunning color frescoes), Tokalı Church, Yılanlı Church, and the Kubbeli Church with its unusual domed exterior. The local women of Soğanlı village have traditionally made and sold fabric dolls to supplement income.

History buffs, quiet-seekers, and anyone who wants to experience Cappadocia as it was before mass tourism. Combined with Derinkuyu and Ihlara, Soğanlı makes a superb full-day southern circuit.
