The Three Graces (Three Beauties) of Ürgüp: Guide & Photos

The Three Graces — three perfectly formed fairy chimneys near Ürgüp — are one of Cappadocia's most iconic images. Here is the best way to photograph and visit them.

Turkey's Most Photographed Rock Formations

The Üç Güzeller (Three Graces) are three fairy chimneys standing in a row beside the main Göreme–Ürgüp road, each with a dark basalt cap atop a tall white tuff pillar. They grace countless Cappadocia travel posters and are the most recognizable single image in the region.

Visiting Them

Located 3 km west of Ürgüp on the D765. A small pull-off area with a cafe and gift stalls. Free to photograph. Best light: morning (east-facing). The roadside setting makes this easy to visit en route between Göreme and Ürgüp.

Photography Tip

Include the surrounding landscape and sky in your shot — isolated chimney shots look flat. Morning mist in autumn and winter creates especially atmospheric images.
